Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad questioned the official version of the Sept. 11 attacks and defended the right to cast doubt on the Holocaust in a tense appearance Monday at Columbia University, whose president accused the hard-line leader of behaving like “a petty and cruel dictator.”

He’s hard-line if you’re a Jew, or if you’re not paying attention and blindly going along with the Jewish agenda.

Ahmadinejad smiled at first but appeared increasingly agitated, decrying the “insults” and “unfriendly treatment.” Columbia President Lee Bollinger and audience members took him to task over Iran’s human-rights record and foreign policy, as well as Ahmadinejad’s statements denying the Holocaust and calling for the disappearance of Israel.

“Mr. President, you exhibit all the signs of a petty and cruel dictator,” Bollinger said, to loud applause.

He said Ahmadinejad’s denial of the Holocaust might fool the illiterate and ignorant.

“When you come to a place like this it makes you simply ridiculous,” Bollinger said. “The truth is that the Holocaust is the most documented event in human history.”

No, it’s not. Here’s a nice series of videos for you. Here’s another (1) (2). However, the claim that Ahmadi-nejad called for the disappearance of Israel, may in fact be one of the most well-debunked claim made by the Jewish press about a foreign leader in a generation.

Ahmadinejad rose, also to applause, and after a religious invocation, said Bollinger’s opening was “an insult to information and the knowledge of the audience here.”

. . . and that’s part of the reason kwallages are shite. We have the Iranian president coming here to lecture us on open debate. Stings, doesn’t it? That’s because he’s right. The west likes to think it’s enlightened, but as Linder says, we all burn witches, we just call them “holocaust deniers.”

Mahmood showed more class than his hosts:

“There were insults and claims that were incorrect, regretfully,” Ahmadinejad said, accusing Bollinger of falling under the influence of the hostile U.S. press and politicians. “I should not begin by being affected by this unfriendly treatment.”

During a question and answer session, Ahmadinejad appeared tense and unsmiling, in contrast to more relaxed interviews and appearances earlier in the day.In response to one audience, Ahmadinejad denied he was questioning the existence of the Holocaust: “Granted this happened, what does it have to do with the Palestinian people?”

But then he said he was defending the rights of European scholars, an apparent reference to a small number who have been prosecuted under national laws for denying or minimizing the Holocaust.

“There’s nothing known as absolute,” he said.

Like a western “Lawrence of Arabia,” Ahmadi-nejad derisively, yet gently dismisses our silly superstitions, much as we would the mysticism surrounding the Khabbalah.

Everything is up for debate in our enlightened society, except for the Second World War. Hey, isn’t it usually a loss that compels a regime to tighten historical analysis? Just sayin’.

He reiterated his desire to visit ground zero to express sympathy with the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks, but then appeared to question whether al-Qaida was responsible.

See what he did there? One cannot have sympathy for the 9/11 victims without believing the official conspiracy theory. This is how reportage steers your thinking. Watch for it.

“Why did this happen? What caused it? What conditions led to it?” he said. “Who truly was involved? Who was really involved and put it all together?”

Because Israel needed to go fight their enemies, explosives, Jews running our government, elements of the CIA/NSA/Mossad/Naval Intelligence/etc, neocon Jews and their collaborators posing as elected officials.

Asked about executions of homosexuals in Iran, Ahmadinejad said the judiciary system executed violent criminals and high-level drug dealers, comparing them to microbes eliminated through medical treatment. Pressed specifically about punishment of homosexuals, he said: “In Iran we don’t have homosexuals like in your country.”

Too bad. If it’s one thing Iran needs, it’s guys running around with assless chaps, french-kissing at the Iranian equivalent of Disney World, and making kids cry.

“You are either brazenly provocative or astonishingly uneducated,” Bollinger told Ahmadinejad about the leader’s Holocaust denial.

Provocative? To whom? Uneducated? In what? Why doesn’t he just tell Ahmadi-nejad he’s wrong and have a debate on the issue? “Oh, you’re provoking people, you’re not properly educated.” Yes, Mahmood is blowing the curve by not swallowing the holocaust myth. He’s ‘making everyone look bad’ for being Jew-appeasers.

Also, Bollinger is out of his pay-grade to be talking like this to the president of Iran. He has a law degree. Ahmadi-nejad has a PhD. (pwned)

“There’s been widespread commentary in Iran, even on the far-right, that Ahmadinejad’s position on Israel has hurt the country’s diplomatic relations,” said Maloney. “The fact that he was frankly unwilling to go as far as he has in the past suggests there may have been some consequences for him at home.”

Funny, when I claim that the Jews have enough power to stifle diplomatic relations with dozens of countries because someone has the “wrong opinion” on history, it’s antisemitic.

President Bush said Ahmadinejad’s appearance at Columbia “speaks volumes about really the greatness of America.”

Like a Monty Python skit, the President chimes in with a retarded statement.

Sen. Joseph Lieberman, I-Conn., said he thought Columbia’s invitation to Ahmadinejad was a mistake “because he comes literally with blood on his hands.”

Literally? You don’t think he would’ve at least washed his hands?

Zoriah has worked extensively in Iraq, Afghanistan, Gaza and Lebanon and has won wide critical recognition since the early '90's. In 2006, in particular, he was named Photojournalist of The Year by Morepraxis; he won the VII Photo Agency Portfolio Contest; and he was included in World Picture News Networks Most Powerful Imagery of 2006. At this point, however, Zoriah is probably best known for having been expelled from Iraq earlier this year by the U.S. military. Working as an embed, Zoriah met the ire of the powers-that-be for publishing images of U.S. military dead on <a href='http://www.zoriah.net/blog/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>his photoblog</a>. Having witnessed a suicide attack on the unit he was attached to, Zoriah violated no codes or restrictions for documenting what he saw. (In fact, Zoriah was never charged with violating rules of the multinational force command and still retains his military credentials to work in Iraq.) Still, as part of a stringent and escalating military censorship effort, Zoriah was made an example of. (For background, I recommend photographer Michael Kamber's NYT <a href='http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/26/world/middleeast/26censor.html?partner=rssuserland&emc=rss&pagewanted=all' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>article</a> on the incident. Kamber, a universally respected photojournalist, has been a mainstay in Iraq for The Times.) Over the past few months, Zoriah has been photographing in Gaza. This particular image was taken this Fall on the Palestinian side of the Israeli wall, near Bethlehem. If the letters, split between the two barriers, creates an ominous sense, and the geography, plus the mixture of English and Arabic, evokes false campaign rumors about Obama's religion and ethnicity, the graffiti embodies its own style of hope. Hand wringing aside, however, do you know where I find the illustration most clever? The Newsweek <a href='http://www.newsweek.com/id/169170/page/1' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>cover story</a> emphasizes how Obama, also mirroring Lincoln, desires to populate his administration with the strongest personalities he can find. Regardless how strong the character and ideological brew, the assumption is that Obama can temper it, mold it, and create a powerful balance out of it.
